Uyen Vo

My name is Uyen Vo. I am a myotherapist and remedial massage therapist with over 10 years of hands-on practice. I founded Myo Means Muscle in 2022 to create a professional and highly practical clinic, where I could enjoy the work and hopefully connect with like-minded therapists to join the team.

I envision the clinic as a welcoming haven for residents of the northern Melbourne suburbs, dedicated to helping them revitalize and restore balance within their bodies.

My approach

During my first few years of practice, although clients and mentors complimented my hands-on skills, I sometimes found the conflicting scientific evidence around massage therapy challenging and confusing. I also had to consider the labour involved and the ethical dilemmas associated with ongoing massage therapy provided to clients.

Over the years, I have integrated my nursing skills and knowledge into my myotherapy practice, employing various techniques within the scope of practice to assist individuals in enhancing their soft tissue issues and overall quality of life through hands-on therapy. The positive feedback from my clients has strengthened my commitment to continue blending massage therapy with my myotherapy work.

I now view massage therapy as a pathway to understanding each client better and assisting them in cultivating a deeper awareness of their mind and body in various states. In addition, my practical toolkit encompasses dry needling, cupping, a corrective exercise approach, and client education.

Experience and interests

I have many years of experience working with people involved in sport, supporting event preparation and recovery, injury rehabilitation and maintenance, as well as with shift workers and health professionals maintenance, pregnant women, daily office workers and people managing with chronic disease.

With a nursing background, I am particularly interested in general health promotion within the scope of myotherapy practice, and in exploring how remedial massage therapy may help with chronic disease management.

• Adv Dip of Myotherapy from 2014.

• Dip of Remedial Massage Therapy from 2013.

• Cert IV of Relaxation Massage Therapy from 2012.
